SPRING 2013 Schedule

Sunday Morning 9a.m.:

Building Godly Families Sundays - 9a.m., in FLC Dining Room.  Starts January 6

The Knowledge of the Holy - In his book The Knowledge of the Holy, A.W. Tozer identifies a problematic trend in churches toward a low view of the majesty and holiness of God. He writes that the “low view of God entertained almost universally among Christians is the cause of a hundred lesser evils everywhere among us. A whole new philosophy of the Christian life has resulted from this one basic error in our religious thinking.” This class will take a deep look at the person and nature of God in an effort to help us maintain a high and glorious view of Him. Cost is $8.
Instructor: Dr. Tom Wisely, Sundays - 9a.m. in FLC #201.  Starts January 6.

The Names of God - The Names of God in the Bible come in a marvelous and rich variety. Names are important because they are a method of self-revelation. Each of the names that God has chosen for Himself reveal something of His nature, character, works and attributes and reveal to us vital truths about our relationship with Him.
Instructor: Pastor Brett Inman, Sundays - 9a.m. in FLC #202.  Starts January 6.

New Testament Survey
A survey of the New Testament is a powerful and life-changing study. In this class, we will take a bird’s eye view at each book in the New Testament, from Matthew to Revelation. As we learn about the author, date, background, audience, purpose, outline, and themes of each book, it will make your devotional times much more rewarding, deepen your walk with Christ, and strengthen your commitment as His follower. Optional book: $27.
Instructor: Elder Kevin Westbrooks, Sundays - 9a.m. in FLC #203.  Starts January 6.

Financial Stewardship:A Guide to Managing Your Money
Managing God’s resources is a vital aspect of our discipleship and growth in Christ-likeness. This course covers what the Bible says about managing money using the Crown Biblical Financial Study. Topics include budgeting, investment, saving, spending, and a number of other essential money management strategies. In this difficult economy, learning how to be a good financial steward is crucial. Book cost: $30.
Instructor: Dennis Wilson, Sundays - 9a.m. in FLC #204.  Starts January 6.

Do you want to appreciate the richness of God’s story of salvation and grow in your relationship with Christ?  D. A. Carson takes people through the big story of Scripture, helping us see Christ in the Old Testament and the major themes of the Bible. Wednesday Evening 6:30p.m.:
The History of Christianity - Studying church history reveals the key doctrines and figures which have shaped the church over the centuries. We will take a look at the pivotal events in the spread of the church and biographies of great Christian men and women who have significantly affected Christian history which in turn shaped the history of the world (people including Polycarp, Perpetua, Constantine, Augustine, Wycliffe, John Hus, Tyndale, Luther, Calvin, John Wesley, George Whitefield, William Carey, C. H. Spurgeon, and Amy Carmichael will be covered).
As one author stated, “Many committed, knowledgeable believers still know little about the history of the church. As a result, they’re missing a testament to God’s faithfulness over the centuries.” Learning about our rich heritage and the remarkable ongoing story of church history strengthens our faith and protects us from repeating past mistakes. We have so much to learn from 2000 years of Christ building His church all around the world that can be applied today.
